Description
A hexagon bolt, commonly shortened to hex bolt, is a threaded fastener with a hexagonal head shape. The bolt is designed to be installed using a spanner, or hex driver. They have a very robust design which is suitable for extremely heavy-duty fastening applications, so are generally available in larger sizes than equivalent fasteners.
- Fully threaded / setscrew: threading covers the entire shaft allowing fitting in to pre-threaded holes / sockets, and giving an improved grip strength.
- Plain / partially threaded: feature an unthreaded section at the top of the shaft which gives even greater tensile strength.
- Flanged: variant of the other types, which includes a fixed integrated-washer (flange) that provides a greater surface area below the head, improving resistance to loosening
